PhD position in cardiac electrophysiology and gene therapy
04.10.2023
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) is one of the most renowned universities in Germany. As part of the Chair of Pharmacology (Prof. Martin Biel) at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, the working group “Molecular Cardiovascular Pharmacology” lead by PD Dr. Stefanie Fenske deals with the analysis of the physiological and pathophysiological role of ion channels in the cardiovascular system especially in the generation of the regular and coordinated heartbeat. We are in particular interested in processes that coordinate the activity of the pacemaker network and the interaction of pacemaker cells with external regulatory systems (e.g. the autonomous nervous system). Another focus of our research work is the development and optimisation of AAV- and CRISPR/Cas9-based gene therapy approaches for the curative treatment of heart diseases, such as cardiomyopathies or cardiac arrhythmia.
