The research group for Pharmacology for Natural Sciences (Chair: Prof. Dr. Martin Biel, Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, LMU Munich) is offering a PhD position in the field of neuronal pathophysiology and therapeutic development, available as soon as possible. Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich is one of Germany’s most prestigious and largest universities.
Your Responsibilities:
- Independent execution of your research project as part of your PhD
- Presentation of results and writing of publications
- Assistance in teaching activities at the Department of Pharmacy
Your Profile:
You hold an excellent degree (State Examination or Master’s) in Pharmacy, Biology, Human Biology, Veterinary Medicine, or a comparable Life Sciences program. You have gained initial lab experience beyond mandatory internships during your studies. We are looking for highly motivated, well-organized candidates capable of independent, flexible, and team-oriented work. Strong communication skills and fluency in English are required.
Who we are:
We are an international, interdisciplinary team researching novel therapeutic strategies for genetic diseases such as epilepsy and Stargardt disease. To develop future therapies, understanding the molecular origins of genetic disorders is essential—including mitochondrial processes and neuroinflammation. Using molecular biology techniques such as cloning, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, tissue sectioning, production of adeno-associated vectors, and testing in suitable models, we aim to make genetic diseases treatable.
